Art at the Waverley
Exhibiting from 13 May to 5 July
Back in February I committed to my first art exhibition, Art at the Waverley, alongside fellow artist Sarah Emery (Wild at Art by Sarah). Since then, we have both been busy preparing six pieces of artwork each to feature, and the exhibition is now up!
From now until 5 July, you can visit The Waverley and see our work on display in the downstairs Snug room. You’ll see a range of incredible wildlife artwork by Sarah (seriously, so good!), whilst mine focuses on capturing the details of special places. All pieces are originals available for sale for the duration of the exhibition.
Sarah and I both started sharing our art in 2024, so have been on similar creative journeys. This is a new thing for us both, and I couldn’t be prouder to share the space with such a talented artist and wonderful person as Sarah!
Pop in and have a look around for yourself, or if you fancy joining us, we’re holding a Meet the Artists event in the Snug room from 7-8pm on Thursday 29th May. More details below - we’d love to see you there!
Castle Combe, Wiltshire
Original watercolour painting, A4
£155
I love recreating the details that make a place unique, and as such a picturesque village, Castle Combe was an easy choice! For me, painting a place means paying even more attention to detail than I might in real life, and working on this reminded me what a beautiful place we’re fortunate to have on our doorstep. Around 10 hours went into creating this piece and I’m so pleased with the result!
Autumn Colours at Westonbirt
Original watercolour painting, A4
£145
The beautiful Westonbirt Arboretum with autumn colours on full display. Westonbirt is one of those special places that just brings a sense of peace and awe to wander round. I wanted to capture the feeling of being in amongst the trees surrounded by nature and colour. I hope it reminds you of the joy in spending valuable time in nature too.
Wiltshire Illustrated
Original watercolour painting, A4
£135
When I had the idea for this map, I vastly underestimated the time it would take! It took a fair bit of planning and went through three iterations to reach this point! But I’m so pleased with how it’s turned out and hope you enjoy taking a closer look. I wanted to create a map that conveyed our beautiful county in a unique way, every aspect hand drawn and handwritten. These are my tiniest illustrations yet – can you spot the lion and giraffe?!
St Agnes Coast, Cornwall
Original watercolour painting, A4
£95
Of Cornwall’s countless stunning views, this is one that caught my eye when I first saw it pictured. Located on the rugged cliffs of St Agnes is the Wheal Coates Tin Mine, an iconic National Trust site that serves as a reminder of Cornwall’s mining heritage. With beautiful scenery and views over the Atlantic, it’s a location I look forward to visiting for myself. What locations inspire you?
Summertime Blooms
Original watercolour painting, A4
£85
Who doesn’t love a vase of flowers in all the colours. I know I do, and for this painting I wanted to create a bouquet full of bright, beautiful blooms that evoke the joy of summertime. Do you have a favourite?
Dreaming of the Italian Coast
Original watercolour painting, A4
£75
Italy is a place that captures my imagination each time I visit. I couldn’t resist recreating a scene with a bright and beautiful Sicilian/Amalfi Coast vibe, incorporating these tones with lemon trees, colourful buildings and stunning waters. I find yellow and turquoise to be such joyful, uplifting colours. I hope this reminds you of the feeling of blissfully soaking up the sun and sea.
Meet the Artists
Thursday 29th May, 7-9pm
Join Sarah and I in The Waverley’s downstairs snug room at 7pm on 29th May for a relaxed hour of chatting about all things creative, accompanied by complimentary homemade cake (courtesy of Sarah!) and nibbles.
Sarah and I will also have a selection of original artwork, cards, prints and postcards available for sale on the evening. This event is totally free and we’d love to invite you along if you’re keen to join us. No need to book, just turn up! We hope to see you there.
