Bespoke design for the Chippenham Half Marathon 2025 Finisher’s T-Shirt
A volunteer design project honouring the town of Chippenham and its wonderful running club
A Pro Bono Project
I was thrilled to have the opportunity to create the design for this year’s Chippenham Half Marathon finisher’s T-shirt. Having been a resident of Chippenham for over 20 years and a member of Chippenham Harriers since my teens, I know the town well. This project was a lovely way to celebrate the town I’ve called home for so long while giving back to the club. It was a fresh creative challenge for me, so I took it on voluntarily and completely pro bono. It turned into a project that was both fun and greatly rewarding!
Behind the Scenes
While I usually work on paper, for this project I used my iPad to digitally draw the race route, incorporating key landmarks, place names, water stations, and the start/finish points. Once the design was complete, it went off to print, and I didn’t see the finished T-shirts until race day!
Check out this video showing the process of creating the finisher’s design—several hours of work condensed into just 30 seconds. It’s fun to watch, even if it makes it look like it only took five minutes!
A Proud Moment
There’s something special about seeing your artwork printed on a T-shirt. I had a fantastic morning helping hand them out to runners—it was both strange and amazing to see so many people wearing something I’d drawn!
A huge thank you to the Chippenham Harriers and the half marathon organisers for giving me this opportunity. It was a joy to contribute to the club in this way and be part of such a memorable event!
