Chippenham Eco Map

A bespoke watercolour map celebrating Chippenham’s local sustainability initiatives, created in collaboration with Zero Chippenham

Celebrating Local Sustainability

I was delighted to collaborate with Zero Chippenham in 2026 to create a bespoke A4 watercolour map showcasing sustainability initiatives, community projects and green spaces across Chippenham and the surrounding area.

There are so many brilliant people, organisations and community groups taking positive action to create a more sustainable future. This project was all about bringing those stories together in one place, celebrating the work already happening and helping more people discover the ways they can get involved locally.

The aim was to create more than just an illustrated map. It was an opportunity to celebrate the positive action happening within our community and give people a starting point for discovering the projects and organisations making a difference.

As a local artist, it felt particularly meaningful to contribute to a project that connects creativity with a cause that matters.

From Illustration to Community Action

One of the highlights of this project was seeing the finished map shared at Zero Chippenham’s screening of The People’s Emergency Briefing.

The screening brought the local community together for a 50-minute film featuring nine leading UK scientists and experts, exploring the latest evidence on the climate and nature emergency and why it matters. The event welcomed a full house, with Chippenham MP Sarah Gibson also in attendance.

Alongside raising awareness of these wider environmental issues, Zero Chippenham encouraged attendees to discover the many local projects and organisations taking positive action across the area, highlighting the watercolour map as a resource to help people find out more and get involved.

It was wonderful to see my illustration being used in this way: connecting a bigger conversation about sustainability with the people and initiatives making a difference right here in our community.

For me, this is what makes projects like this so meaningful. Illustration can do more than capture a place; it can tell a story, share information and help people connect with causes and communities that matter.

A Meaningful Local Collaboration

A huge thank you to the team at Zero Chippenham for inviting me to be part of this project. It was a pleasure to work together on something that celebrates our local community and contributes, in a small way, to such an important cause.

Collaborations like this are a reminder of how illustration can be used to do more than create something beautiful. It can communicate ideas, bring people together and help shine a light on work that deserves to be celebrated.

There are so many people doing brilliant things across our community, and every action, however big or small, plays a part in creating a more sustainable future. I hope the map encourages more people to discover these initiatives and find their own ways to get involved.
