Castle Combe is one of those places that feels almost too picturesque to be real—every corner, every rooftop, every curve of the lane holds something quietly beautiful. I love recreating the little details that give a place its unique character, and this village was an easy choice. It's full of those timeless textures and soft tones that translate so beautifully into watercolour.
For me, painting a place means noticing even more than I would just walking through it. It’s a slower way of seeing—studying the lines, the light, the shape of the chimneys, the way ivy clings to stone. This piece took around 10 hours to complete, and every moment reminded me how lucky we are to have such a beautiful place right on our doorstep!
I’m so pleased with how it came together—and I hope it brings a little sense of place and calm to wherever it ends up.
