Sunday 9 November, 2:00-4:30pm

📍 The Waverley, 62-63 Market Pl, Chippenham SN15 3HG

Join me for a relaxed, creative afternoon of painting your very own Christmas card design, with the option to have it turned into printed cards afterwards (see below for more info)!

In this workshop, you’ll learn the techniques of watercolour painting while creating your own Christmas card design. You’ll receive a printed copy of my Introduction to Watercolour booklet, full of tips and guidance to help you continue your painting after the workshop.

You can choose any subject you like for your design, and I’ll be there to guide you in creating your own version. Some ideas could be a robin, wreath, tree, stockings, winter cottage, baubles, reindeer, a festive front door… the possibilities are endless! What do you love seeing on a Christmas card?

I’d advise having something in mind beforehand and maybe choosing a picture to bring with you to the workshop (printed or on your phone) to use as a reference.

All materials and equipment will be provided. We’ll have exclusive use of The Waverley’s downstairs snug room, a complimentary drink is included with your ticket, and you’ll also receive a free A5 print of my festive robin illustration as a bonus thank you for attending!

All are welcome, whether you’re an art enthusiast or have never picked up a paintbrush before! Just 10 spaces are available, so book early to reserve yours. Hope to see you there!

Printing (optional add-on)

If you’d love for your design to be printed onto a set of cards you can actually give to loved ones, here’s your opportunity!

For this workshop, I’m offering the option to produce printed cards featuring your own design, which you can then give to friends and family. What better way to make writing a Christmas card more personal!

The option I’ve come up with is a set of 12 x A6 size cards featuring your design, printed on luxury white Tintoretto Gesso 250gsm card, which is a high quality, slightly textured and fully recyclable card type. They will come with brown Kraft envelopes.

Cards will be blank inside, and you can choose whether your cards have any wording on the front. On the back of the card at the bottom will be:

  • Design hand painted by Your Name

  • Card produced by illustrationbykelly.com

How it works

At the workshop, I’ll scan your painting once you’ve finished it, and will ask you whether you’d like any wording on the front. You’ll then be able to take your painting away with you.

It’s up to you what you do with your original version - keep it, frame it, gift it, or mount it onto a card and send it! I’ll bring some blank cards with me to the workshop for anyone who would like to do the latter.

After the workshop, I’ll digitise your design for print and order your set of cards. The £15 cost covers my time spent digitising your artwork as well as production and delivery of your cards.

They should arrive to me within a week, and I’ll then arrange collection or postage to you, so you’ll have them hopefully by the third week of November, or the fourth week at the latest.

Cost

The cost for this workshop is £35, which includes:

  • A 2hr workshop including a tutorial of watercolour techniques and guidance from me throughout

  • A printed copy of my ‘Introduction to Watercolour’ booklet

  • Use of all material and equipment

  • A complimentary drink

  • A free A5 print of my festive robin illustration

  • And of course your painting!

The cost for digitising and printing your cards is an additional £15 (optional), for which you’ll receive:

  • 12 x A6 size cards featuring your design printed on luxury white Tintoretto Gesso 250gsm card

  • 12 x A6 brown Kraft envelopes

If you’d like to book the workshop alone, the cost will be £35. If you’d like to book the workshop and printing of your own cards, the cost will be £50.

If you’re not sure whether you’d like printed cards with your design, you can decide later and pay by card on the day.

FAQs

  • Yes of course! If you have your own set of paints you’d prefer to use, please feel free to bring them.

  • Yes you can, though the price may vary depending on what you’d like. If you'd like a different quantity, card size, type of paper etc, I'll be happy to accommodate this for you and can let you know the cost for your chosen cards.

  • Not at all! This is an optional add-on I’ve decided to offer for anyone who’d like it. You’re welcome to come along just for the workshop and skip this, or you can decide to opt for this on the day.

  • Booking will be available until the workshop is full. It’s hard to say when this will be, but I would advise booking in advance if you’d like to come, as spaces are limited to 10.

  • If you can no longer attend a workshop you’ve booked, please let me know at least 7 days in advance for a full refund (of the workshop ticket and any payment for printing of cards).

Cancellations within 7 days of the event will only receive a refund of the workshop ticket if your space can be filled. Any payment for printing of cards will still receive a refund.

No refunds of workshop tickets will be given for cancellations on the day of the event, but any payment for printing of cards will still receive a refund.

    Thank you for your understanding.

  • You’re welcome to arrive any time from 2:45pm onwards, ready for a 3pm start.
